Daniel Thorsley of the G. A. Wheable Centre for Adult Education in London is a dynamic and captivating teacher of science, chemistry and physics who interacts well with his adult students. Eager to create learning experiences for all students, Mr. Thorsley has also instigated three innovative contests in the London area. Cyber Challenge allows students to participate in a contest without incurring travel expenses: a science event consists of a multiple-choice quiz "race" for four grade levels; and a technology event requires the construction of a machine using specified materials. Current Capers is a cooperative venture of London Hydro and the London public and separate boards of education. During the London Science Fair, four separate events test students' knowledge about electricity. The Connaught Biotechnology Event allows secondary school students to develop proposals, apply for grants and carry out research in biotechnology. Mr. Thorsley is a leader in science education in the London area..
