National Recipient
Gérard Camisa
Gérard Camisa teaches mathematics at École secondaire des Sources in Dollard-des-Ormeaux. Mr. Camisa is responsible for preparing students at the school for two mathematics competitions: FERMAT at the University of Waterloo and Concours de Mathématiques du Québec at the University of Montreal. The quality of his teaching is illustrated by his students' outstanding performance both in his courses and at the competition level. Mr. Camisa has also organized a team of student peer-tutors as part of a federal drop-out assistance program. The tutors help other students to overcome difficulties in mathematics. The results thus far are encouraging: students who were failing have regained their interest in mathematics, and are on their way to success.
